Izabella Penier

Izabella Penier's background is in literary and cultural studies, particularly in postcolonial and diasporic contexts. She has also done research in the area of gender studies and feminist scholarship, with a view to examining the relationship between gender and cultural nationalism. Izabella's recent monograph, "Culture-Bearing Women: The Black Women Renaissance and Cultural Nationalism," was published in Open Access, and it explores these issues on the example of the fiction of African-American women in the 1980's. It was the product of her two-year Marie Curie-Skłodowska Fellowship at the University of Central Lancashire. Izabella is also an editor and Open Access advocate with experience in launching and managing Open Access journals and a keen interest in the future of academic publishing. She has a PhD in literary studies and an MA in publishing.
